M + M = Baby Brusberg

This maternity session was especially meaningful to me.

I’ve known Michelle & Michael now for almost 4 years.  I met them when they first booked me for their wedding & have had the pleasure of working with them ever since.  Not only have M & M been clients, but I’m also proud to call them my friends.

Michelle started assisting on weddings for me a couple years ago & it has been a pleasure to get to know both her & Michael better as well as their families.

When planning this Maternity session we knew our vision was a mixture of studio & outdoor {sunset}.  We ALMOST rescheduled because the heat was suppose to be unbearable that day but we decided to chance it, because this was very important to Michelle & “just in case” she was early we wanted to be prepared.

Well the “just in case” certainly happened & little baby Greta May Brusberg was born three days later.

{Note : Michelle was the first of TWO clients in the month of June that went into Labor within three days after our session.  So if you are booking a session @ the end of your pregnancy, know that my photo sessions, just may induce labor, ha ha}

Which will it be?

This momma & dad-to-be decided to find out & keep it a BIG ‘OLE FAT secret from everyone.

I give them a lot of credit for keeping that secret from their loved ones.

{ Lets just say : I love the perks of my job }

I may or I may not know….

The night before our session, C & E were in the emergency room.  Everything was totally fine with little baby “peanut”.  It was Christy who needed to be seen.

She was absolutely determined to get her wedding ring back on for the Maternity Session, well she got it on alright, but it ended up turning her fingers/hand blue & off they went to the E.R. in the middle of the night.  Luckily they were able to cut the ring off & actually C was able to slip it on during our session still.

Also a big HUGE thanks to daddy-o for going out to get the bag of peanuts, mid-session.

I had a blast getting to know you both & I look forward to welcoming that little

GIRL or BOY peanut into your lives, really soon.

{Born May 2, 2011}

Recently when asked what one of my favorite things to photograph was, I quickly answered : births.

To accurately describe the love & emotion that is present @ that time is next to impossible.  I love capturing that, I love being around it & love documenting it.

Particularly for this family it was very important to have a very pleasant birth experience & documenting the first few moments as a family of four.

Many times for mommy’s {& daddy’s too} you are so much in the moment that taking photos is the farthest from your mind.  You’ve been waiting 9 LONG months to meet this new person & all you want to do is stare at their beautiful face.  Especially for c-section mommies documenting a birth can be helpful because I was able to go with daddy into the nursery & document those moments so that mommy isin’t missing out.

{14 days old}

Newborns, newborns, newborns.

They always seem to have their own agenda for our sessions, mr. Beckett did as well.

Many times people will ask how long a typical newborn session will last & it is always difficult to judge.

Every baby is different {every baby has their own idea of how they are going to allow me to photograph them}

I love the challenge.  I love the adventure & most of all, I sincerely love {as long as it may take} capturing this brief moment in their lives, when everything is so new.

New for the family, new for the baby & new for the world.

I loved having the opportunity to photograph Beckett with his eyes open, because he was a little older I was able to capture his eyes, looking around, exploring his new surroundings.

I photographed his big brother {Maguire} several years ago.  Their mommy & daddy were one of my very first clients when I started my business.

I might add that big brother Maguire was very very cooperative for his portion of the photo session & that was much appreciated.

I met M & B several years ago when I photographed their engagement session & was so excited to hear they were expecting.

Newborns involve a lot of work & patience but so rewarding, I love taking the time to cuddle them down to sleep & prepare them for the next shot.

The love between this little family of three, is so amazing. Documenting that was my pleasure!

Many of you may recognize Michelle, she is my 2nd shooter for many of my weddings & a super fabulous gal.

I was so excited to do this session for her & her hubby.

So we knew that we wanted to do some sort of {REVEAL} session & Michelle did a lot of planning & asking for help prior to.

She purchased pink & blue balloons & had those ready to go, depending on the results.

Here is the timeline breakdown :

1.  Ultrasound appt on Thursday morning

2.  Technician filled out form & put the results in a sealed envelope

3.  Envelope & pink/blue balloons were delivered to Michelle’s sister Samantha Thursday evening

4.  Samantha opened the envelope & began the process of blowing up several PINK balloons for our session the following morning

5.  We all met early Friday morning & the balloons were brought over in black garbage bags by Michelle’s amazingly helpful sister

6.  We started our session…

I had a blast planning & shooting this session M & M.

Before we started the session, I asked M & M what their guess was.

Obviously they were BOTH wrong.

M & M were patiently waiting while I took some “before” shots.

IT’S A GIRL!

This was the first time they found out the sex of their baby when they looked up & saw the balloons released into the sky!

How fun & excited!

I literally was getting goosebumps while I was photographing it!

After the balloon release we headed over to the Apple Hut in Beloit.  We actually photographed part of M & M’s engagement session here a few years ago.

En route to the studio to finish up our session we ran across this fabulous “pink construction” wall.  They were happy to let us borrow it for a few minutes.

So this ADORABLE little note was what Michelle prepared prior to their U/S & gave it to the technician to fill out & put in a sealed envelope.

The envelope was then delivered to Michelle’s sister Samantha who helped out greatly in the making of this session.

She opened the envelope & blew 40+ pink balloons the night before our session & put them all in black garbage bags & brought them down early that morning.

Thanks SO much Samantha for your help in the cold for those few hours, your the best!

I love PROPS on sticks.  Fabulous.

How could it when I have sweet little babes like Maizy come into the studio & just put on a show for the camera.

She was SO fabulous during her outfit changes.

Maizy’s mommy & daddy won one of my Facebook give aways & the session has been in the works for awhile now.

{so, if you aren’t a fan/like the page, you should do so because I tend to do a lot of give aways!}

We decided to schedule their session once Maizy was sitting up & I’m glad we waiting because she just rocked her session out.
