Recently when asked what one of my favorite things to photograph was, I quickly answered : births.

To accurately describe the love & emotion that is present @ that time is next to impossible.  I love capturing that, I love being around it & love documenting it.

Particularly for this family it was very important to have a very pleasant birth experience & documenting the first few moments as a family of four.

Many times for mommy’s {& daddy’s too} you are so much in the moment that taking photos is the farthest from your mind.  You’ve been waiting 9 LONG months to meet this new person & all you want to do is stare at their beautiful face.  Especially for c-section mommies documenting a birth can be helpful because I was able to go with daddy into the nursery & document those moments so that mommy isin’t missing out.

Sweet baby Stella came in @ almost 6 weeks old & was a little doll.

We were able to capture her both sleeping & awake.  She has thee most beautiful eyes.  Like her parents.

It was a pleasure meeting & working with you Chris & Angie.

Sweet little baby Tate.

I met his mom almost a year ago when she called & asked me to photograph her nephew as a surprise gift for her sister.

We’ve kept in touch this past year & was so excited to hear about her pregnancy news!

I’ve had the opportunity to photograph several of Tate’s older cousins & look forward to watching this clan of little babies get older.

I’m not sure I can emphasis enough just HOW. MUCH. I. LOVE. TO. PHOTOGRAPH. NEWBORNS.

Yikes. Amazing.

Seriously, they just melt my heart.  I love every minute of it.

Loved this idea.  Mommy put on red lipstick & kissed his cheek.  The smirk was a bonus.

I couldn’t help but include this image.  I will say though that he didn’t do this very often during his session.  I think this was just a little squeal  & he went right back to sleep.

So this little guy comes with quite the story.  I was originally hired to photograph his birth.  Mom was preparing for a home/water birth.  Her EDD was New Years Eve of ‘09 and we were waiting patiently for him to arrive.  Grayson Lennox, though had a different plan.  He surely was born @ home, but momma’s whole labor & birth was only 20 minutes, no time for any photo sessions.

10 days after he was born he came to my studio for his newborn session with his big brother, beautiful mommy &  his daddy who made it home for his birth from Afganistan.

It was a pleasure meeting you mr. G the rockstar.
